Pitch Perfect fans, raise your voices and rejoice. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson officially signed on to reprise their roles as Beca and self-proclaimed Fat Amy, respectively, for the sequel to the beloved sleeper hit.
This is great news for Universal because, let’s face it, a Pitch Perfect 2 without the duo would probably do as well as Mean Girls 2, which didn’t have Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, or Bring It On 2, which didn’t have Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union — and everyone knows how those turned out. (Badly.)
The original’s screenplay writer, Kay Scribe, will pen the second film, expected to premiere May 2015. Co-star Elizabeth Banks will be making her directorial debut with the film.
