It wasn’t the first time the Fox star has been accused of harassment — a former producer for his show accused him of harassment in 2004, and reportedly settled the case for $9 million. O’Reilly stayed on air. But public tolerance for alleged harassment has fortunately diminished in the decades since Anita Hill testified about Justice Clarence Thomas. At Fox, the floodgates opened after Motto columnist and former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson came forward in 2016 with claims of harassment against Roger Ailes (who also denies the claims).
