Priyanka Chopra says that her sense of confidence comes from trusting her gut.
The Quantico star appears on the April cover of Marie Claire, where she discussed her unconventional career path. The actress says that she initially planned on becoming an aeronautical engineer, but soon got swept up in acting after winning the Miss World pageant in 2000. “. “Yeah, plans and me don’t really work out,” she told Marie Claire. “I’ve learned it’s better to just go with my instincts.”
Chopra says her parents encouraged her to challenge herself and take risks. “I like to find my own way, which is something my parents always encouraged in me,” she said. “They were like: ‘You got you.’ I think my inherent sense of confidence comes from that.”
And the actress applies that same mindset to her love life. “I’m not someone who looks for love. I don’t believe in making it happen,” she said. “My life has been shaped by so many serendipitous moments so far, I feel like, Why screw with a good thing?”
