This Week in Motto: The Barriers to Addressing Sexual Harassment at Work

Gretchen Carlson, the former Fox anchor and now women’s rights advocate, has a new Motto column out today on sexual harassment, a problem that can be made worse — and be kept secret — by the fine print in arbitration clauses.

What’s that? If you sign a contract that contains one, you may be waiving your right to bring any future litigation to court, instead promising to settle disputes privately.

Gretchen is testifying before Congress on how these clauses, which many companies include in both customer and employee contracts, can stand in the way of bringing discrimination to light.
