Kourtney Kardashian Was Mom-Shamed for Letting Her Daughter Wear a Lip Ring

Kourtney Kardashian fans are fighting back after some social media users mom-shamed the star for letting her 4-year-old daughter wear a lip ring.

Kardashian shared a picture on Instagram of herself cuddling with daughter Penelope, who sported a lip accessory, on Oscars night. “Our Oscar Sunday. Yes, that’s a lip ring. Thanks @kimkardashian,” she captioned the photo.

Social media users were quick to judge Kardashian. “She is a little girl not teenager nor adult, this is inresponsable [sic] and a bad example of parenting,” one user wrote on Facebook. “She’s too young for that real or not it’s unnecessary bad example of parenting,” another wrote.

But many of Kardashian’s fans came to her defense — noting that the ring was likely a fake and it wasn’t others’ place to judge her parenting. “That’s not your child. She’s the mom,” one user wrote on Instagram. “She can make the choices.”

“I’m sure she knows how to bring up her children without ‘super mums/dads’ jumping in,” a fan wrote on Facebook.

Kardashian has spoken out about facing pressure to be the perfect parent in the past. But she says she tries to ignore the noise. “I think it’s about staying calm and trusting your instincts,” she said in an interview last year.
