The Drugstore Beauty Products Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson Used at the Oscars

The 2017 Oscars were far from uneventful. Between Viola Davis’ long overdue win, an appearance from “hidden figure” Katherine Johnson and that “Best Picture” snafu, we’re still reeling from the excitement of last night’s telecast.

And as expected, the red carpet proved to this year’s most glamorous. Our favorite fashionistas came to slay for the grand finale of another awards season and thankfully, there weren’t too many missteps.

From Janelle Monae’s primped pixie to Taraji’s tousled bob and Viola Davis’ buttery brown skin, moments like these make us wonder how these beautiful Black women manage to look camera-ready at the drop of a dime.

As it turns out, the stars are just like us…kind of. Before slipping into their couture and sky high heels, glam squads are lacing them in products we can pick up at the local drugstore.

Hidden Figures No More

Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer were a trifecta of beauty at last night’s ceremony. The latter two were styled by hair guru Tymothe Wallace, who was inspired by legendary Black icons Diahann Carroll and Dorothy Dandridge. Wallace used this serum to smooth and shape both Henson and Spencer’s strands. For the former, he applied and then set with pin curls to create texture, while he applied the serum to Octavia’s hair after using a flat iron to straighten her coif.

And to finish off both looks, he applied a layer of spray, ensuring that each look stayed put throughout the night.

The Oscar winner (!) always has a glow and it isn’t just because of her many accolades.
