Jenna Dewan Tatum has a treasure trove of gowns that she’ll be saving for her daughter, 3-year-old Everly, but there’s one in particular that stands out above the rest. InStyle caught up with the Danskin ambassador on Tuesday, where she told us that she plans to pass her 2013 Oscars dress, a gorgeous Rachel Roy lace gown, on to her daughter—because she was pregnant while wearing it.
“I actually kept the red carpet dress I wore at the Oscars—this black dress when I was pregnant—for her just so she could have that, because I thought that’s neat, that she wasn’t born yet but she went to the Oscars,” she told InStyle. “I have my wedding dress. I have some pieces of jewelry to give to her, and lots of memorabilia that I’m keeping for her, for sure.”
Aside from mom’s hand-me-downs, little Everly already has a similar sense of style. The toddler has been wearing Danskin to her dance classes, just like mom did at her age. “She has a pink little leotard that has a little skirt attached to it that she wears in her dance class and for her gymnastics class. She’s really excited about it,” she said.
As for mom, she’s still wearing leotards, this time from Danskin’s new fall collection. “I really like the new cut for the leotards. There are panels that bring in your waist. There’s some laser cut that I think can be worn during the day, running around town, going to a workout, but also paired with high-waist jeans or trousers and kind of funky for night time. And I do that in my personal life all the time,” Dewan Tatum told us.
“I love all these wrap sweaters that I will wear every single day that are really versatile. You can wear them leaving the gym. You can also wear them going out at night to dinner. There’s a lot of texture adding in to the new fall collection.”
So what does Everly think when mom gets all dressed up? There’s a change in the 3-year-old’s tone that helps the star know when she’s really got something special. “She’s pretty used to it because I’ve done it since she was born, so she’s got a really good eye. I know when something is really a good look because she’ll go, ‘Ooh, mommy,’ and she has this little tone. Normally she’s like, ‘Oh mommy, ok bye! Love you. You look pretty.’ It’s kind of like, ‘no thanks,’” Dewan Tatum joked.

“But every now and then … There was this blue sequined Zuhair [Murad] dress I wore to Globes, I think last year, and when I put that on it was like I was Elsa to her, and that was pretty cool.”
