Since the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton has attended four Broadway shows — The Color Purple on Jan. 8, The Humans on Jan. 15, In Transit on Feb. 1 and Sunset Boulevard on Feb. 15. At each of the performances, Clinton received a standing ovation and requests for photos.
Heather Hitchens, president of the American Theater Wing, had some kind words to say about Clinton’s recent appearances. “She’s always been a strong supporter of the arts, so it doesn’t surprise me that she’d want to spend her time this way,” she told The the New York Times. “The theater community is grateful for her presence.”
And, as the Times points out, Clinton is also visiting some of the Broadway community’s favorite spots. On Feb. 15, she was seen grabbing dinner with Kate McKinnon — who famously portrayed her on SNL during the election — at Orso.
There too, Clinton was greeted with affection.
