This is why we love Ashley Graham. She’s a supermodel who’s not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for women facing body images issues. Since appearing as the first-ever, full-figured model on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Graham’s continued to cheer women on and encourage them to feel confident in their own skin.
On Sunday, we caught up with Graham mid-fashion week during Prabal Gurung’s fall/winter 2017 collection after-party. Graham, making an entrance as she always does, looked like a million bucks in a short black dress with a patterned jacket draped over her shoulders.
After grabbing a Grey Goose Le Fizz cocktail and chatting with a few guests, Graham spoke with InStyle about how she maintains confidence during stressful runway shows and photo shoots.
When walking the runway, Graham says she has a definite motto in mind: “Don’t fall. Have fun. Be fierce.” As for high-pressure photo shoots, especially those when she’s wearing an itty-bitty bikini, Graham remembers it’s all perspective. “Whatever you decided that you don’t like about yourself that morning, forget it,” Graham tells InStyle. “Because every other woman in the world has something they don’t like. And so, I just always tell myself that I am not alone and it makes me feel better about myself.”
Way to keep it real, Ashley.
