If you’ve ever spent way too long circling a wine shop debating the right red or a refreshing white, we know how you feel. Even the most savvy entertainers can get tripped up picking the right vino, but lucky for us, there’s now a much easier solution. Verve Wine is a new online platform that helps users find the perfect wine based on occasion type, price, and even food pairings.
Master sommelier and former Eleven Madison Park Wine Director, Dustin Wilson, and his partner, veteran wine merchant Derrick Mize, launched the site this month and it features thousands of wines in every price range. “You shouldn’t have to be an expert to find and enjoy great wine. That’s why we started Verve Wine — to remove the judgment and intimidation people can feel when looking for new wines, to bring some fun and levity back into the wine buying experience,” Wilson says.
Readers can search wines by new releases, Dustin’s picks, or best-sellers, but they can also choose from more customized options like occasion (holidays, movie night, dinner party, or gifting). There is also a search tool to help you with food pairings, and not just steak and fish like you’ve heard before, but more true-to-life options like tacos, pizza, sushi, and burgers.
Once you’ve narrowed that down, you can search your options or pick a type of grape or style like rich and round or light and bright. You can then order your chosen wine and have it shipped straight to you. Buying wine just got a whole lot simpler, folks. Cheers to that.
