Despite the fact that the events of Rogue One take place before the story of the original Star Wars trilogy begins, it seems likely that the spinoff will feature plenty of nods to the first three movies in the space fantasy saga. Of course, there may also be references to films set outside of the galaxy far, far away.
During a recent interview on The Star Wars Show, director Gareth Edwards revealed there’s a wink to two of his previous projects hidden in a scene inside the cave home of Rebel fighter Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker). “There’s some Easter eggs,” he said. “In Saw’s cave, there are some cave paintings. One of them is of the creatures that were in my first film, called Monsters, and then there’s a Godzilla. I didn’t ask for it, I just came in one day and saw it.”
