Gigi Hadid is facing heat — but also drawing support — on social media after impersonating Melania Trump at the American Music Awards on Sunday.
The model and co-host Jay Pharoah took several shots at President-elect Donald Trump and his wife in the opening moments of the show, and Hadid showed off her impression of Melania.
“I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia,” she joked, referencing Melania’s reported plagiarism of Michelle Obama‘s speech during the Republican National Convention this summer.
Hadid was the subject of a flurry of tweets soon after. Many Trump supporters were upset with her snarky impression of Melania.
