Cara Delevingne Slams British Tabloid For ‘Using Women’s Bodies to Sell Papers’

Cara Delevingne has hit out at a British tabloid that claimed she was rejected by Victoria’s Secret for being ‘bloated’, criticizing the paper for ‘shamelessly discussing women’s bodies’ in order to sell copies.

An article in The Sun newspaper published Oct. 30 said that the 24-year-old actress and model was reportedly turned down by Victoria’s Secret in 2014 for being ‘bloated’, after two years of starring on the lingerie store’s runway.

Delevingne shared a photo on Instagram of a letter she received from Edward Razek, the CMO of Victoria’s Secret, confirming the article was a “complete fabrication.” “The sole reason you ultimately couldn’t join us was the movie you were shooting in North Carolina,” he wrote. “We tried hard to have you there. You would have made the show better, as you do anything and everything you’re involved in.”

The letter ended with a special invitation. “If you’re free on November 30, please join us in Paris,” Razek wrote, adding “No casting necessary!”. If Delevingne takes up the offer, it will be the first time she’s walked a Victoria’s Secret show since 2013.
