Hillary Clinton is no stranger to glass ceilings. She’s been breaking past them her entire career, and is well on her way to cracking what she called the “highest, hardest glass ceiling:” the presidency. And she’s taking that sentiment to heart. According to Politico, Clinton and her staff sent out a “save the date” memo for her election party, which will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Manhattan.
The Javits Center has significant relevance for a few reasons. Other than it being in her adopted home state of New York and a massive convention center, the Javits Center is literally made with “soaring glass ceilings.” Clinton and her team were not toying with subtlety on this one. Will Clinton enter James Bond-style through the glass ceiling? Or, rather, soar through a glass panel à la Wonder Woman? Maybe there’s even some Harry Potter spell that Clinton could utter, causing the glass to literally shatter and allowing her to effortlessly waltz into the space.
The decision to hold the party at the Javits Center also pokes at her opponent, Donald Trump. According to Mother Jones, Trump attempted to get New York City to approve a convention center at the location early in his career as a real estate developer. He also tried getting the convention center named after his family, but the city ultimately went with a different developer. Trump even claimed, “There wouldn’t be a new convention center in New York today if it hadn’t been for the Trumps.”
One thing’s clear, however, Clinton is getting ready to shatter the figurative glass ceiling on election day — maybe literally, too.
