Since Queen Bey’s tour-de-force of an album, Lemonade, dropped nearly six months ago, it’s shown up in pop culture everywhere from Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show and James Corden’s The Late Late Show to more recently on Saturday Night Live, where the female comedians channeled “Sorry” for a hilarious and very excellent skit about Melania and the women of the Trump campaign.
Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn’s take on “Formation” debuted as a Tidal exclusive on Friday, featuring Schumer and Hawn attempting to re-create the now iconic selfhood anthem.
It’s an odd choice for the Mother/Daughter co-stars given that the song addresses racial politics and police brutality (Schumer and Hawn don shirts that read an excerpt from the song “Texas Bama,” a racially complex term historically used in a derogatory manner).
Joan Cusack and Wanda Sykes also join them on an island, where they lip-sync and re-create some of Beyoncé’s choreography alongside flora and fauna.
The video is available on TIDAL.
