Watch Stephen Colbert and Elijah Wood Joust on Segways

Noted Lord of the Rings enthusiast Stephen Colbert faced off against Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood in a battle straight out of Middle Earth—sort of.

Wood stopped by The Late Show on Thursday night to talk about his upcoming BBC series Dirk Gently, and Colbert was thrilled to make his acquaintance. The sentiment was kind, but the meeting was a little awkward. Because apparently this wasn’t the first time Wood and Colbert had met, and this wasn’t the first time that Wood was a guest on The Late Show.

This was news to Colbert, though, and as they argued about their relationship status, the once-cordial conversation quickly devolved into a chilly war of words. One slap of a glove, however, and the only option was to resolve their dispute like gentlemen, namely jousting on Segways on the streets of New York.
