When Solange Knowles dropped her third full-length studio album, A Seat at the Table last Friday, critics and fans alike noted the strong visual aspect of her new project.
Now, Knowles has released two aesthetically stunning and powerful videos for two songs off her new album, “Cranes in the Sky” and “Don’t Touch My Hair.” The videos were co-directed by Knowles, alongside her husband, Alan Ferguson, and continue to address the themes of identity politics and race that feature so prominently on the album.
On her website Saint Heron, the music videos are described as “a musical representation of the spirit within an unapologetically Black woman who is not interested in remaining silent in a critical time of identity, empowerment, grief, healing and self-expression – let alone, artistic expression.”
