Kanye West Gives Passionate Speech on ‘Overcoming’ After Yeezy 4: ‘I Needed to Hear Me’

1 minute read

After his widely reported controversial fashion show at a former smallpox hospital in New York on Wednesday, Kanye West opened up about his feelings during his concert with one of his trademark passionate speeches.

“If y’all don’t mind I have to be selfish for a second and have to say that today, I need to hear these songs. I need to re-hear the lyrics that I was saying, I had to overcome certain controversies…whatever happens in life,” he began before delivering the lyrics to his powerful song, “Black Skinhead.”

The Pablo rapper then compared his feelings to the Cleveland Cavaliers during a losing streak and clarified that he was discussing Wednesday’s critically lambasted fashion show.

“I want you to look at it with your eyes not your ears,” he urged, reiterating how he takes comfort in his songs like “Power.” “I needed to hear me today.”
