Tuesday marks what would have been the 100th birthday of Roald Dahl, the beloved, phizz-whizzing—a term Dahl coined meaning “brilliant”—author of dozens of children’s books over the course of more than four decades.
Dahl’s legacy continues more than 20 years after his death—just this year, Steven Spielberg released the film adaptation of The BFG, a classic tale about a friendly giant. Several of his books have been turned into movies over the years, including Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
