Vice President Joe Biden silenced both a heckler and his audience in Cleveland on Thursday when he referenced his son Beau’s death.
At a campaign rally for Hillary Clinton, someone in the audience repeatedly yelled at Biden, “My friends died, my American friends,” and “My friend died.” He was angry about U.S. policy in Syria and Biden’s call for the Kurds to withdraw from captured ISIS territory, the Guardian reports.
After another interruption of “My friend died,” Biden responded, “Will you listen? So did my son, OK?” Beau Biden died of cancer in 2015 at age 46.
Biden offered to talk to the protester privately after the rally, but the protester told the Guardian that didn’t end up happening.
