Actor Robert De Niro is easily one of the most accomplished of his generation of actors, but even he has had the occasional nerves when meeting other actors. Meeting Marlon Brando in particular made him nervous, De Niro told Seth Meyers on Late Night this week.
“Brando, when I met him the first time, I was always impressed with him,” said De Niro. “Actors of my generation, most of us love Brando.”
De Niro played a younger version of the Godfather character made famous by Brando before having met the actor. “I’m going to be the first to tell you it worked out ok,” Meyers joked about the Godfather Part II, a film often ranked among the best of all time. “I know you’ve been waiting for feedback.”
De Niro is making rounds promoting the new boxing film Hands of Stone.
