Ozzy Osbourne has been a sex addict for years and is in therapy, the rock star said Wednesday. Sharon, his wife of more than 30 years, said on CBS’s The Talk soon after that she was proud of him for owning up to the addiction, though it’s “embarrassing” to talk about.
“Over the last six years, I have been dealing with a sex addiction,” Ozzy said in a statement to USA TODAY. He added that he was mortified over the admittance, and sorry for the pain he may have caused Sharon.
In May, Sharon confirmed that the two were separating, saying that she “couldn’t keep living like this.” She had also kicked Ozzy out of their home. Last week, Ozzy said their marriage may be “back on track.” Later that day, Sharon said she couldn’t think of her life without him, “even though he is a dog.”
Ozzy did not detail his therapy, though Sharon, 63, said on the show that she co-hosts that he’s been in outpatient treatment for three months, and will go into impatient treatment for an additional after his tour with Black Sabbath ends.
“It’s hard because it affects the whole family. … Drugs and drinking is more acceptable, but when it’s somebody who has a sex addiction, it’s more embarrassing,” Sharon said.
