Shonda Rhimes slammed Bill O’Reilly Tuesday for his comments on slaves who built the White House.
The Fox News commentator and host of The O’Reilly Factor said on Tuesday that slaves who built the White House “were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government.” He was responding to First Lady Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech Monday, in which she said she wakes up “every morning in a house that was built by slaves.”
O’Reilly’s comments offended many, Rhimes among them, who took to Twitter to blast the host. The Grey’s Anatomy showrunner wrote, “The idiocy never ceases to amaze me. Try slavery, Bill. Let us know how good the food is while you wear chains.”
“Bill: Chat about cuisine after they steal ur name, homeland, family then beat u, breed u and make u work for free,” Rhimes continued.
