Any action hero can save the world, but only one man can do it while skiing through a jungle, carving a skateboard along a moving vehicle, and riding a motorcycle atop churning waves. That man, of course, is Vin Diesel, who is back in the realm of over-the-top spectacle in the first trailer for XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
After sitting out the second installment of the extreme-themed spy franchise, Diesel is reprising his role as a professional thrill seeker turned government agent, and this time he’s hot on the trail of a bad guy (Donnie Yen) with a McGuffin — er, a deadly weapon — known as Pandora’s box.
While costars Toni Colette and Samuel L. Jackson get some choice lines in the trailer (“Kick some ass and try to look dope while you’re doing it,” the latter says), it’s clear that Diesel is the man of the hour. Even when he’s defying the laws of physics, not to mention all logic and reason, he always obeys the rule of cool.
