NBC News has resurfaced a clip of a 2004 interview Donald Trump did with NBC’s Dateline—in which he refers to pregnancy as an “inconvenience.”
The segment was about Carolyn Kepcher, then executive vice-president of Trump Golf properties. Kepcher says in the clip that she waited six months to tell Trump, her boss, that she was going to have a baby.
“Maybe in my mind he might think this would perhaps be a setback,” Kepcher said.
When asked about it, Trump did little to assuage his employee’s fears:
“Pregnancy…it’s a wonderful thing for the woman, it’s a wonderful thing for the husband, it’s certainly an inconvenience for business. Whether people want to say that or not, the fact is it is an inconvenience for a person that is running a business.”
Oof.
