5 Women We’d Love to See Play Bond

James Bond has been womanizing, drinking and sure, saving the world for over 50 years on the big screen. And with Daniel Craig stepping down from the lucrative movie franchise, the door is wide open for fresh blood. And Motto is sincerely hoping that change comes in the form of a Jane Bond.

We’re not alone in our need for a lady Bond. X-Files actress Gillian Anderson endorsed a campaign urging the Bond creators to make her the next 007. Quantico star Priyanka Chopra also threw her hat into the ring after being asked if she was interested in being a ‘Bond girl’: “F— that — I wanna be Bond!” Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has even come up with her own dream ‘Bond Boy’—Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio.

While we think Anderson, Chopra and Clarke are worthy contenders, we’ve put together a short list of other women we’d love to see portray Bond.

Bond: Lucy Liu

We’ve always know that Lucy Liu is a boss. She’s strong, powerful, and judging by her performances in Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels, a total badass. She could beat you into a pulp in an immaculate Gucci suit, then immediately order a martini at the bar without breaking a sweat.

Bond: Rosamund Pike

You remember Gone Girl, right? Pike’s Bond would be out for revenge—cold, calculated revenge. It’s not hard to imagine her with pursed lips, cooly staring down the barrel of a gun.

Bond: Zoe Saldana

Saldana has already proven herself as an action star in Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy and the recent Star Trek films, but she has yet to carry a major action film on her own. And if her red carpet looks are any indication, her Bond wardrobe will be on point.

Bond: Gugu Mbatha-Raw

The up-and-coming actress from Belle and Concussion might get her big break from playing Bond, similar to Sean Connery’s experience in the ’60s. He was a relative unknown on the global stage with a lot of talent before Bond—could the same happen with the equally talented Mbatha-Raw?

Bond: Daisy Ridley

OK, so the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star is already committed to a major franchise. And yes, she’s pretty young. But she could bring a breath of fresh air to the Bond series—perhaps reviving the comical Roger Moore take rather than the brooding interpretation that Daniel Craig so favored.
