Uma Thurman left a French charity auction Thursday feeling “violated” after an unexpected kiss from a former Fiat CEO.
Thurman hosted the Cannes Film Festival’s annual amfAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) auction, where Italian businessman Lapo Elkann surprised her with a kiss after winning an auction prize, People reports. A representative for the actress, Leslie Sloane, said that Thurman was not privy to the stunt and felt “very unhappy” about the kiss
“It is opportunism at its worst. She wasn’t complicit in it,” Sloan told People. “Somewhere in his head he must have thought it an appropriate way of behaving. It clearly wasn’t.”
Elkann won the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show experience, which included two tickets to both the show and an exclusive after party, with a winning bid of $196,000—later surprising Thurman with the kiss. A representative for Elkann didn’t comment when reached by the New York Daily News
