Another year, another J.K. Rowling apology.
The Harry Potter author—who captivated her legions of fans last year with a series of revelations about the popular book series even as some found the drip-drip publicity irritating, has taken to apologizing for the death of one character every year on what she says is the anniversary of the climactic Battle of Hogwarts. This year? She’s sorry for knocking off Remus Lupin, mentor to Harry, Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher—and werewolf.
“Once again, it’s the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts so, as promised, I shall apologise for a death,” Rowling wrote on Twitter early Monday morning. “This year: Remus Lupin.”
