Melania Trump often accompanies her husband Donald Trump on the campaign trail, but in a recent GQ profile, she says that doesn’t necessarily mean she sees eye-to-eye with him on everything.
“Nobody controls me,” she said, pointing out that, “I chose not to go into politics and policy. Those policies are my husband’s job.” She admits to providing Trump with advice but says that “nobody knows and nobody will ever know” what she says to him. “Because that’s between me and my husband.”
If she were to become First Lady, Melania Trump said she she would take after Jackie Kennedy as a “traditional” FLOTUS. Where Michelle Obama invests in fighting obesity, Melania plans to focus on charities—“many different charities involving children, involving many different diseases,” she said.
