Hail the size of tennis balls pelted parts of the South and Plains late Sunday, with another volley expected Monday and even the chance of some tornadoes.
Parts of northern Texas and Oklahoma were bombarded by the ice, with smaller hail reported in Kansas and Missouri.
Powerful winds were also recorded across the region. Storm-chasers recorded one gust of 90 mph on I-44 near Geronimo, Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service.
The barrage was set to continue through Tuesday, with just under 11 million people under threat of severe weather in the region.
