Clinton and Sanders Agree to Hold Brooklyn Debate

1 minute read

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will meet for a debate in Brooklyn on April 14, just five days before New York’s primary election.

The two campaigns had gone back and forth over when and where to hold the debate, their first since March 9. While Sanders advocated for the Brooklyn location, Clinton pushed for the April 14 date. A tweet from New York Mayor Bill de Blasio—who has endorsed Clinton—called for compromise and promised Sanders help with getting a new permit for a rally he’d planned for that night to take place on a different day. The debate will take place at the Duggal Greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard

The meeting place will be meaningful for both candidates: Clinton’s campaign is headquartered in Brooklyn (though she reportedly works mainly out of Manhattan offices when in New York) and Sanders is a Brooklyn native.

The event will be held broadcast by CNN and local cable news station NY1, with Wolf Blitzer moderating.
