The Eagles co-founder Randy Meisner lost his wife in what officials have designated an accidental shooting on Sunday, when Lana Ray Meisner picked up a case with a rifle inside and the firearm went off unexpectedly.
Officials responded to a call to find Meisner with one gunshot wound, and pronounced her dead on the scene, CNN reports. The LAPD. said in a statement that “as she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner.”
The statement added that Randy Meisner had been “cooperative throughout the investigation.”
