Everybody needs a hobby, it seems.
A small group of airline barf bag connoisseurs are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for the seat-back satchels, the Wall Street Journal reports. The highest known price paid for a puke purse? A staggering $500.
Of particular interest are bags from airlines long extinct, per the Journal:
Collectors prize bags for their humor, such as a Finnaviation bag depicting a reindeer throwing up ice cubes, or a bag from former German airline Hapag-Lloyd stating: “Thank you for your criticism.”
Bags from obscure airlines, such as Anic, are also highly sought after; Mr. Brinker says he could sell the Anic bag for $100-$200 on eBay, but that he would never part with it. Another prized holding in Mr. Brinker’s collection is a 1930s-era German bag, from before the days of pressurized cabins, that warns: “After use do not throw out of the window.”
