The artist behind Barack Obama’s iconic 2008 “Hope” posters has designed a t-shirt for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Artist and political activist Shepard Fairey took a different approach than he did for Obama in 2008 with his insignia for the Sanders campaign. For one, the art focuses on symbols instead of showing Sanders’ face.
“I want to push principles not personalities,” Fairey said in a video posted to Sanders’ Twitter. “I’m tired of portraits. I want to make images about people of substance, about the issues they care about.”
Fairey endorsed Sanders on social media, calling the Vermont senator “the real deal.” The artist has previously criticized Obama for not living up to his expectations.
