To mark the Chinese New Year, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has an important announcement. He and his wife have disclosed the Chinese name for their new, young daughter.
In a pretty adorable video shared by the tech executive over the weekend, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan said their daughter Max’s Chinese name is Chen Mingyu.
“Chen, after her mother’s family name, and Mingyu represents our hope for a brighter tomorrow for the world,” Zuckerberg said when announcing the decision in Mandarin.
Max–short for Maxima–has generated a lot of headlines for a baby. With the announcement of her birth last year came the news that Zuckerberg and his wife pledged to give away 99% of their Facebook shares in their lifetime, currently worth about $45 billion.
Zuckerberg’s daughter was also in the news before she was even born when her father announced he would takepaternity leave. She generated headlines again last month when a photo showing her waiting in a doctor’s office to get vaccinated led to an online debate about vaccinations.
