It’s a brand new day for Pee-wee Herman. Twenty-eight years after his last cinematic adventure, the playful man-child is back in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. Netflix released the film’s first teaser and announced the premiere date: March 18.
In the new comedy, Pee-wee goes on his first-ever holiday after an encounter with a “mysterious stranger.” But this time he’s not riding his beloved bicycle; he’s getting behind the wheel. In the film’s first clip, Pee-wee gets his day started in a way only he can, with his home-made chain reactions that get him out of bed and out the front door through the roof.
Paul Reubens returns as the hero, and the cast includes Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike XXL), Jessica Pohly (Stalker), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development),and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Reubens co-wrote the film with Paul Rust, and John Lee (Wonder Showzen) is directing.
Big Holiday will premiere at SXSW in March before streaming on Netflix.
