Eagles Of Death Metal ‘Speechless’ by Brit Awards Nomination

2 minute read

The Eagles of Death Metal , whose concert at the Bataclan was attacked by jihadists in Paris last November, have said that they are “speechless” for being nominated for a Brit Award. Eighty-nine fans and staff were killed.

The rock band are up against U2, Alabama Shakes, Tame Impala and Major Lazer in the Brit Awards’ international group category.

Last December, they returned to Paris to join U2 on stage at the Accorhotels Arena. It was an emotional night, according to ITV News. Bono told the audience: “They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago – we would like to offer them ours tonight.”

After hearing about the Brit nomination on Thursday, the band took to Facebook saying that they were humbled by support they had received this year.

“You know how you always hear people say that it’s nice to just be nominated? Well, in this particular case, it honestly is so nice to just be nominated for International Group at the BRIT Awards, especially alongside such other amazing artists like U2, Alabama Shakes, Major Lazer, and Tame Impala. We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support Eagles of Death Metal has received this year from all of the people of Europe, and we pledge to continue rocking and rolling for many, many more years to come. Thank you so much for recognizing and bestowing us with such a wonderful honor. ‪#‎BRITs‬”
