The King renounced his yacht Fortuna as Spain tightened its belt in 2013 but received blowback when a court ruled the crew had been dismissed illegally and taxpayers would have to cover the €1.2 million ($1.3 million) costs.

THAI PRINCESS SRIRASMI

At least six relatives of Srirasmi, royal consort to Thailand’s Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, were arrested in 2014 for abusing their royal-family status for money. In the wake of the scandal, Srirasmi gave up her title and she and the prince divorced last year.
