John Stamos said he was “embarrassed” about his June DUI in an interview with Howard Stern that aired Monday, calling the incident “horrific.”
“I could have hurt somebody, it was really stupid and ignorant of me,” the actor said, according to People. “And I hated myself for that. It was a bad, bad thing. So I said to myself, I have to stop this up and down, up and down, I have to.”
Stamos says he participated in a 30-day rehab program in July, and revealed his struggle to stop using certain drugs as well as alcohol. “I was on some medications, antidepressants and that damn Ambien, I’m so happy to be off that,” Stamos said. “My memory was starting to get really f—ed up too, from that. Difficult to memorize scripts, I couldn’t remember names and places and things. And that was the hardest thing to kick, by the way. Booze, and whatever, that happened, but the Ambien was tough.”
