A New Jersey couple left their three young kids in a car for almost two hours in 31-degree weather while they spent nearly two hours gambling at a casino, police said.
The Bucks County Courier Times reports Jarrett Evan Nelson, 39, and Ebony Walker, 30, were arrested Saturday after police responded to a report of three children left inside a Dodge Journey that was not running in the parking lot of Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pa.
Casino surveillance tapes show the couple entered the building at 7:33 p.m. and didn’t return to the car until about 9:11 p.m., according to a police affidavit.
Police said the three children, ages 8, 3 and 1, were all sitting in the back seat; the two youngest were still in their car seats.
Nelson and Walker face multiple counts of reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children, according to court records.
The couple was sent to jail after they were unable to post 10% of a $50,000 bail.
