Slash Honors Motörhead’s Lemmy With ‘Ace of Spades’ Performance

Add Slash to the growing list of musicians who have paid tribute to Motörhead’s Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister, who died on Dec. 28. The guitarist took to the stage New Year’s Eve at Las Vegas’ House of Blues — blocks away from another high-profile cover performance — to provide his take on the classic Motörhead cut “Ace of Spades.”

Slash’s connection to Lemmy is well-documented. Upon the rocker’s death, Slash remembered him as “Rock n Roll personified & the embodiment of everything it stands for” in an Instagram post. Slash covered Motörhead at Lemmy’s 70th birthday in December and has performed with Lemmy and Dave Grohl — who honored the late musician with a new tattoo — before.

Slash’s rendition of “Ace of Spades” — documented on fan-shot video above — comes amid rumors that he’ll rejoin Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses to perform at this year’s iteration of Coachella.
