Looking to ring in the New Year by returning some of those holiday gifts? Here’s where you can shop on New Year’s Day instead of sleeping off your hangover.
Some restaurants and retail stores are closing early on Dec. 31, but most will open up for regular business hours on Jan. 1. Target will swing its doors open to New Year’s Day shoppers during normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. with some locations starting later, a representative said.
Walmart has varying opening and closing times, as well, but all 24-hour stores will resume regular business hours over New Year’s, according to GOBankingRates, which compiled a list of all major retailers. Toys “R” Us is also operating on regular business hours on New Year’s Day, but some locations may be closing early the day before.
McDonald’s will open late but close normally, and most Starbucks stores are open for business from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. However, Chipotle is closed on New Year’s Day, as well as Sam’s Club, Costco and Trader Joe’s. Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond and BJ’s are closing early at about 7 p.m. on New Year’s Day, according to GOBankingRates.
Hours of operation vary by store locations. Customers should call their nearest branches before heading out.
