May all your Christmases be green: Green Day released a new Christmas song titled “Xmas Time of Year” Thursday afternoon, just in time for the holiday.
This is the first song Green Day’s put out since 2014, when they celebrated Record Store Day by releasing Demolicious, an album filled with demo versions of 2012’s ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! trilogy.
Since then, they’ve kept busy working on Heart Like a Hand Grenade, a documentary directed by Joe Roecker about recording 2004’s American Idiot. Producer Rob Cavallo also revealed to Kerrang! in April that he’d recently heard “five new songs that [frontman Billie Joe Armstrong] has written and demoed.”
“Let me tell you, they were just fantastic,” Cavallo said. “He is absolutely at the top of his game. Fans can be sure that when they do return, the music will be amazing.”
