A 7-year-old girl took a break from soccer practice to go hug a man on the sidelines. That night, he killed her.
The man, Timothy Nelson Obeshaw, was a family friend of Emma Watson Nowling and her mother, Sharon Elizabeth Watson, Detroit Free Press reports. On Thursday night, in the parking lot of Taylor Sportsplex in Taylor, Mich., he shot them both and then turned the gun on himself.
Obeshaw and Nowling died, and Watson is in “serious condition” the hospital, according to a press release by the Taylor Police Department.
According to the press release, “Police still do not have a motive for the shootings, other than witnesses and family members told police that in the past year Obeshaw had started becoming mentally unstable and paranoid. Police found evidence that Obeshaw believed someone was trying to perform mind control on him.”
