Jewish a cappella group Six13 proved its members are dutiful students of the Internet with its 2015 holiday video, which debuted Tuesday on TIME.com. The singers mix together Silentó’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling” for a Hanukkah-themed parody called “Watch Me (Spin/Drey Drey).”
Sample lyrics:
Now watch me spin
I spin my drey-drey
Now watch me spin
Shin, nun, gimmel, hay-hay
I light that wick
Lehadlik nay-nay
Because that oil lasted
For eight day-daysWe’re making latkes, I can smell those
And sometimes it’s sufganiyah
Light them candles in the window
For eight nights cause it’s Chanukah
Al Hanissim we will sing
For those miracles that G-d did bring
Ma’oz Tzur we’re gonna sing
Cause we didn’t listen to the king
My menorah’s looking pretty
…
Now watch me flip
(Skillet!)
Flip my potay-tay
Now watch me win
Like the Maccabay-bays
Six13’s 2014 Hanukkah video, a spoof of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”, racked up more than 1.8 million views. Past hits also include a Passover-themed parody of “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars and “Chozen,” a spoof of “Let It Go” from the hit Disney movie Frozen.
