The young singer and actress Selena Gomez is starting to open up about her troubled start to 2014, People reports.
In an interview at the We Day conference in California, she talked about the issues that made her check into rehab in January.
“I’m surrounded by people who are supposed to guide me, and some of them have and others haven’t. They pressure me … you gotta be sexy, you gotta be cute, you gotta be nice. You gotta be all these things,” the 21-year old starlet said in front of her screaming fans.
She told her fans to stay true to themselves and not to listen to what other people tell them to do.
“Until recently, I had given into that pressure. I lost sight of who I was. I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought that others would accept me for it.”
Although Gomez spent two weeks at the Dawn at the Meadows rehab facility in Arizona, it was not for substance or alcohol abuse her management says. The facility treats several different kinds of addiction.
