Adele fans hoping to listen to her new album, 25, on Spotify, Apple Music or other similar services could be in for disappointment, with the New York Times reporting on Thursday that it will not be released on streaming websites.
This is despite the fact that the first single from the album, “Hello,” is already widely available on streaming services, having been downloaded 1.1 million times in its first week.
Three unnamed people described by the Times as having “direct knowledge of the plans” told the paper that the much awaited album, 25, would not be available to stream online when it releases this Friday. However, Adele’s spokesman declined to comment to the Times and TIME has not independently verified the report.
The 27-year-old songstress’ latest album is expected to be the biggest of the year.
