It looks like everyone knows what Jeb Bush will be watching on Monday night.
During a Q&A in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, the Republican presidential hopeful said he found Supergirl star Melissa Benoist “pretty hot.”
Bush was asked by an audience member to name his favorite superhero, with an emphasis placed on Marvel’s collection of do-gooders.
“I kind of like the old-school guys, like Batman,” Bush said, forgoing the Marvel request and moving right along to the DC Comics stable of characters. He then brought up the new CBS series Supergirl, also a DC Comics property, which premieres Monday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
“Supergirl is on TV – I saw that when I was working out this morning,” Bush said. “There’s an ad promoting Supergirl. She looked pretty hot. I don’t know what channel it’s on, but I’m looking forward to that.”
As the New York Times noted, Bush joked that his thoughts on Benoist would likely “make news.”
Supergirl will too. It stands as the first network series about a female superhero in 40 years. To promote the show’s debut, CBS started the #MySupergirlIs campaign to allow people around the world a chance to celebrate the strong women in their life.
“I want to do right by women,” Benoist told EW about playing Supergirl. “I want to portray someone they can relate to and look up to that’s not a trite or a shallow depiction. I want her to be complicated and flawed. I guess I just want all women to feel like they could be Kara and Superwoman as well.”
