As its merger with American Airlines approaches completion, US Airways will see its last flight under that moniker take off on Friday night.
The last US Airways flight will depart from San Francisco at 9:55 p.m. PT, and by the time it lands in Philadelphia the next morning, US Airways will be a thing of the past, USA Today reports. Customers were apparently very eager to be part of history and book seats on Flight 1939; first class has been sold out since July, and coach class is almost full to capacity, according to a spokesperson.
American says there’s still a lot of work to be done “behind the scenes” in integrating the two companies, but that they felt it was important for the customers that they offer this historic last flight.
