On The Tonight Show Wednesday night, host Jimmy Fallon and pop star Selena Gomez played around with the iPad version of the app Dubsmash, which records users lip-syncing a song into the camera. The comedian used it to groove to “800-588-2300” jingle for the floor and carpet installation company Empire Today and the moment John Travolta garbled the name of Wicked star Idina Menzel and called her “Adele Dazeem” at the 2014 Oscars. Meanwhile, Gomez acted out lines from The Lion King and Taken.
Of course, there is something funny about TV entertainers doing a sketch centered around an iPad app. If viewers aren’t familiar with the app, they might look down at their own iPad or smart device and start browsing the web until the segment is over.
